Trip to the Aquarium (Photo Essay)

These are photos we took at the Newport Aquarium in Kentucky. 

Thirteen exhibits make up the Bizarre and Beautiful Gallery.  Some of the most stunning creatures found in our ocean's depths are showcased here.  Many varieties of live corals, invertebrates and fish are found here.

 Of course the pirhanha is also a part of this exhibit.

You cross a bridge into a humid swamp land exhibit called the Gator Bayou.  Along with gators you will find examples of fish such as Red  Snapper and Sea Turtles pictured below. 

Penquins from the Southern hemisphere are kept in 34 degree temperatures, complete with snow and icy waters in an 8000 gallon tank.  Theatre style seating gives you a rest since you will want to spend extra time at this  intricate exhibit. 

Of course no aquarium would be complete without a shark tank.

A special Rain Forest exhibit includes endangered Asian small clawed otters complete with a waterfall along with colorful free flying birds.
