I SO hate subnetting.

I am SO not ready to make even the most basic attempt to teach it.

I can do it.

With difficulty.

But to teach it is an entirely different thing.

So - for tonight's class, I shall respond to my class' request for "more hands on" and give them hands on projects to do. From the previous chapter.

Which has very little to do with the need for hands on work - but which means that I have one more week to stress over the need to teach them how to subnet.

Have I mentioned that I hate subnetting?

It involves math - binary math, even. Nightmares. Headaches. I hate subnetting.

And honestly, I can't even REMEMBER how the calculators work - they make nifty little programs that can do your subnetting for you (if you can figure out how to use them) - which would help me a lot, if I could remember/figure it out. At least then I would be able to check my - and their - work.

don't want to know... too much stress and I need a nap cause I've been up since three, but the front of my stove is lovely and the oven door is clean on the inside and the front of the dishwasher is clean and I washed my winter coat!

I am never EVER going to become totally prepared to teach it... it is just not within the realm of possibility :(

besides saying no is contrary to the hummingbird nature, the hummingbird flits to what seems to be a good thing tries it and if it isn't then moves on unless there is nothing else that catches its' eye

was supposed to be teaching BASIC programming concepts... when they took that away and offered this one, I should have run screaming. At LEAST I should have looked at the contents of ALL the chapters before I said yes. Subnetting. ACK!

time to go up there and get em started on hands on projects that are not about subnetting :)

flit, I don't have a clue about you write but I do sense your frustration. Hands on sounds like a good idea. For me to have a shot at learning anything I have to have hands on. Best of luck with this.

Small turnout tonight.... so turns out its a good thing we didn't jump into subnetting... I gave everyone a tutorial about it to read before next week...so assuming they do their homework, will be good to go then

Subnetting... Make up something complicated that doesn't make sense to anyone and throw it at them. By next week they will want something different to learn.

Oh, I do not envy you Flit, having to teach something you don't fully grasp, as I see it, but to all men? that is the thing, you can't teach them anything anyway, they know it all already or most of them, in case any men read this, lol, you can do it Flit, sticktoitiviness, lol, my word, you got it.

Ugh! Subnetting...Yucky! I have a B.S. in college and still don't know how the heck I managed that! But subnetting, you can forget about it from me.
