For two days it has been icy-cold and snowing. It's not the big, soft flakes yet, but enough to cover everything and bring out the maintenance trucks with the salt for the road. This afternoon the sun came out for an hour, and I took off with my camera. Come and enjoy the walk with me! You will meet some old acquaintances in new garb!
Rosebud
Yellow rosebud
When there is snow on the ground and sun shining on it, the light takes on a special quality that makes all colors more luminous!
Daphne
Lanterns
Fall leaves
Remember the purple berries?
Fall color meets snow!
This Virginia Creeper lost all its leaves weeks ago, but the birds haven't finished with it yet!

Heather
Flower growing at the top of a tall, bare stalk. All the other blossoms and the leaves are long since gone, but sometimes it pays to be tenacious!
Fuchsias
and some different ones
Hazel, with the catkins all ready to bloom in late January!
Another rose... this one is wearing a hood!
Calendula
and another one

Green field powdered with snow. This was a wheat field before.
Close-up:
And now the embankment on the other side!
This was a potato field. Now it is plowed over.

Field up close. Notice the tiny green shoot!
Not so long ago I showed you this bush full of bees!
Multi-colored leaves in the snow.
Green and red on the same bush together.
These berries are only good for birds!
So are these!
You have met this cat before. He is always prowling around the neighborhood. Today he is cold, trying to warm up a little! Notice the tail! Sweeping back and forth!
Pansy in the snow. It looks as though it is giving off a tiny bit of heat, causing the snow right next to it to melt a little!
One more rose...
By now it was snowing again - no more sunshine! Time to go home!
Can you see the snowflakes?
If you read my very first essay

you have already seen some of this before, in late summer. Thank you for coming with me again as fall makes way for winter!
