Check with your credit card company to see what guarantees they offer...
You may be able to get some sort of extended warranty from them, they will usually replace defective products. It doesn't hurt to call. Good luck, hate to see this happen to you!

guess you should have gotten it at Target or Kmart, Best Buy....battery dead because you left it on?

Throwaway cameras are excellent replacements in the mean time and you can get a "digital" one (Kodak)

I'd send it back and ask for a refund. In the meantime, I would get a throw away digital camera like Kim suggested or go to the store and buy a different digital camera if you have the money. Having to send things back is the only downside to buying online.

Sorry to hear that Dena. What brand did you get? I would ask for a refund and get a new one locally if you can.

This is a real bummer. When you send it back make sure someone must sign when receiving it. I mailed a watch to the manufacturer once and they never returned it. Gone forever. Can you cancel the order and just ship the camera back and start over like Larry says?

So sorry but....lets check everything first. Often new cameras purchased from places other than camera shops have weak batteries or batteries which do not support the high energy needs of digital cameras and we have no idea how long the batteries have been sitting. Install new bateries first before you send it back. When I got my first digital the batteries only lasted a few shots and had to be changed often. I purchased a battery charger (cheap) and extra rechargable batteries and keep an extra set in my camera bag at all times. If you haven't check the batteries try it before you send the camera off.

If you bought it with a CC then you can call the CC company, explain to them the situation to them and find out what they say. Your best bet is to send it back FedEx or UPS and have them Sign for it! That way you have proof that it was received by them. Then argue the charge with the CC company and give them the tracking information so that they know its in the companies hands and not yours!!!!! When sending the camera back send a note that you want a refund and not the camera back!
You will probably be out $10-15 dollars for shipping but if they sent you a POS then its worth spending the 10-15 to return it!
When buying electronics your best off to do so in town through a national chain so that you can deal with them in person if something happens!
That's not to say that it wont take 10 days locally to have something fixed as well!

Ditto- ask for a refund due to defectivness. Wait until next weekend, and order one online dirt cheap on Friday.

Lesson learned with my Kodak camera --- make sure you have the right batteries in it. When I attempted to use regular alkaline batteries in my Kodak EasyShare camera, it would turn on and then shut off right away. I went out and got the Energizer Lithium batteries for electronics and it worked just fine after that.

Did you charge it first or put in the batteries?

Damn boo! Did you check the batteries? Sometimes the ones in the camera aren't that good.
