Purging My Closet

Well, I have purged my closet and my dresser drawers of all the clothes that are now too big. So today I am going to start listing them all for sale on ebay. I am hoping I will earn enough to buy at least one new nice outfit for winter. I am pretty excited to see all of these clothes go away, except for a few of my favorites. There is one outfit in particular, that I am sad to sell. I bought it a few years ago, and then gained weight before I got a chance to wear it. I was excited to try it on to see if it would finally fit me, and it was TOO BIG! Boo Hoo! Oh, well! Off to ebay land it goes with the rest of the size 10's, 12's and 14's! I still have a whole box full of capris and shorts that I will wait until April or May to sell. I didn't realize I had so many clothes!

I love it when we have a garage sale because it forces me to get rid of stuff that we just don't need. I know I tend to hold on to my clothes that no longer fit, thinking one day...

If something shouldn't sell give it to the Thrift Stores. Plus I have found many wonderful outfits there after I lost all my weight!:)

good for you! I had a similar experience. I bought a great full length wool coat, just before we got pregnant with our son! I haven't ever been able to wear it. It's still hanging in my closet with the tags on and I just can't seem to part with it. I'm on the last leg of my weight loss journey, so hoping I'll be able to wear it soon!
Good luck with selling clothes on Ebay. I have never had much luck except when selling name brand items that are popular.

A big congratulations on losing all the weight, from your body and your closet! I'm also a fan of the thrift stores. You get so much more for the $ and these days that is so important.

I also want to thank you for your support during my husband's illness. The Gather comments helped when I was home alone trying not to worry. Bless you.

That is exactly what I have beeing doing for the past two weeks......purging my closets. It is amazing when I go to get something to wear I do not have anything to wear, but now that I am going through to rid some to good will, I have never seen so many clothes! BTW, congrats on your weight loss, that is great!

I really have a hard time doing this-purging, that is. The last time I was forced to when I was moving in pouring rain, and a couple huge bags of stuff got wet and ran.

Share with us how you did it. Nothing works for everyone, but if it worked for you, it will for some of the others.

Now that I have purged my closet, I am adopting a new way to shop. This change is partly due to the fact that I seem to drop a size every few weeks. I am going to be more conservative in my clothes buying...one pair of black pants, one brown, one khaki, 3 pairs of jeans, etc. Tops are a little different, because, who can really pass up a shirt they love, especially if it is a great price! But after finding 10 pairs of jeans all in the same size and several pairs of slacks I never even wore, it is time to make a change! So I guess this losing weight has actually been a GROWING experience as well as a LOSING experience!
