I have already resigned myself to working for the rest of my life! My children are my life. I have twins, a boy and a girl, that are 14 years old. I also have a two year old girl and a one year old boy. Free time is not something I aspire to, but the poor house is looking like a nice step up!
I am writing this on behalf of my twins, Abie and Ciara. They both are in 9th grade in good high schools in Manhattan. Ciara is in private school (which costs more than most colleges) and Abie is in Stuyvesant, a well know public NYC specialized high school. Stress is their middle name as hours of nightly homework combined with commuting on the NYC subways at 14 years old provides a whirlwind existence.
The amazing thing is they are both good kids. They say no to drugs (I think!) and their friends (as I can tell based on Facebook) seem like a fine bunch. They are involved in school sports, writing for their respective school papers, drama, and community service. I am scheduled to see them next on Thanksgiving! lol
Although we all can laugh at the stress caused by all of this, the thought of a quarter of a million dollars going towards their college education is daunting. Scholarships are no longer a nicety but a necessity if there is any chance to attend a private university. As the youth is our future after all, this scholarship would be greatly appreciated, fully utilized, and help two very worthwhile children fulfill their dreams.
Thank you all for your kind consideration.
