For the past few weeks I've been hearing odd noises in my front yard. Banging and thumping and something running. I went into a front room at a little after 10:00 last night. and I caught a shape out of the corner of my eye crouched by the window. I screamed, it ran, and came right back into the yard. It was a Doe . My eyes got used to the dark and there were three Doe's wandering around in my front yard. I've noticed my yard decorations have been knocked over and I've been blaming the five dogs that live next door. I will apologize to the Dogs.
I couldn't get any shots of them without turning on a light, but it was such a neat thing to see. I've also been blaming a Rabbit for eating my Hostas. That is not the case either, thoseDeer went right into my front garden which is only about a foot from the house. I did shoo them away from that, but I bet they just waited until I was asleep to continue their snack. We are in a drought here, and that's why I believe they are coming so close to the house, looking for water. I leave a bowl of water out at all times for the dogs, the Deer might as well enjoy it too. I've lived here for years, and I've never seen them come this close to the house.
