This is a three day weekend for me and I have been trying to take advantage of it to some degree.
Yesterday, my best friend came over first thing in the morning and we off to go spend a day shopping for fabric and craft supplies. She has been on a hunt for fabric with bugs on it for over a month now and we have only come up with a few items. Since Hancock Fabrics was having their Veteran's Day sale, we took advantage of it. She bought some fabric and a couple of other things. I got two yards of ivory fleece so I can make a bunny for my grandson (my granddaughter's idea!), some quilting needles for my machine, a kit to make a Christmas cookbook scrapbook, and some patterns.
From there we had to go the yard and meet my husband. he had seven black trash bags full and cans for me to bring home so he can crush them when he gets time. We all went to eat lunch at Boxcar Grille and then took him back to work.
Karen and I took for Gastonia to find a store called Mary Jo's that was supposed to have a ton of fabrics. People were not kidding when they said that Mary Jo's had a ton of fabric!! We started on one side of the store and worked our way from the silks and taffeta, and lots of other home decor fabrics over to the regular sewing and quilting fabrics. We found more bug fabric in five minutes than we did in a month's worth of shopping! She stocked up on the bug fabric, at least we hope she has enough for a quilt for one of the grandsons.
I personally bought some fat quarters with a Mardi Gras theme as well as some other Mardi Gras fabrics so I can make a quilt for my mother-in-law. If I didn't have a limited amount in checking, I could have gone crazy buying fabric! They had notions, patterns, batting, fiberfill, glues, looms, and more.
I know where Karen and I will be going at least once a month to fill in the gaps of our fabric stashes (providing we actually get busy sewing! LOL) Well, I will be sewing no matter what!! I enjoy it and I do use my stash. I have lots for qulting and Christmas. Okay, so I
stocked up on Christmas fabric after Christmas last year at Wal-Mart when it all went on clearance for super cheap. Now I don't have to buy any for my gifts-in-a-jar lids!!
Today, I did four loads of laundry. I needed to do dishes, but never got around to it. Maybe tomorrow. I finished sewing the curtains for my best friend for Christmas and cut out the bunny pattern I will be using to make my grandson's bunny for Christmas. I watered some of my plants that needed to be watered, and now I am babysitting. After the baby finally goes to sleep, I will have to make the bed and get my granddaughter in the tub for her bath. I might get to go to sleep sometime tonight if my grandson goes to sleep.
Tomorrow, I will have to do the dishes, no ifs, and or buts about it! Plus I will be babysitting while my daughter is a work and when she takes Panda, her python, to the vet after work.
