Who Needs Comments?

Do you have pics that you want others to see? I am proposing a comment trade. The past 2 times I've done this, it has helped me a lot and I have been able to help many get more points and exposure. Go comment on all of my material and I will comment on yours.

 

Many of you have found this to be a very successful way to promote your work, get others to see it, earn some points, and see new stuff yourself. Simply, go comment on all of my pics and for those who do, I will do the same for you. It generally takes me a day or two to get through them, but you will find that it is a great way to promote your work. I will comment on your pics as long as you comment on mine (10 comment minimum please).

 

Also, as you see others comment here, go take a look at their work and comment on their material. The more you support them, the more it helps both of you.

You got it Dan! I try to return comment for comment most of the time...that's only fair don't ya' think?? I know some people I posted like a100 comments to their article and never once did they comment on mine. Guess what? I pass right over them now and let them get their points elsewhere...
I can't post any pictures right now though as my son moved out and took our digital camera! I will be so glad to get a new one!

I tend to comment on other's work, especially if they give me a heads up. I have troublle commenting on photos because my dialup connection is so slow. Also in this past month between writing to get my manuscript in for the crime book contest, and then my dog Buddy being zapped by the electic fense, I have been lucky to comment on anyone. Truly.

I think it is more fun to comment on others articles when they have taken the time or will in the future to comment on mine. I am beginning to look closely now at who all I comment and read. There is one woman who wrote an article saying she would be frank and admit she was in it for the points. She was using it as a source of income to help due to job loss. I spent that Sunday commenting on everything she'd ever posted trying to help out. Much of it meant absolutely nothing. Then a few reasonable articles. Then some very good photographs. I kept up with her and commenting. I then realized at some point she had never once bothered to comment on anything I'd ever written, and I am not a prolific writer, to the contrary, I don't write much at all. She could have shown a moment of appreciation. How many times did she spot my icon or was she even looking at any of the comments. At this point I feel no desire to comment on anything for her. We have no interaction. We have no mutual respect for one another. She cares about her income and her points but she apparantly doesn't know or care that I exist. And there are so many people I have established relationships with that to waste time to be used is just not going to happen now that I see it.

Then there are very kind souls who do write daily or almost daily and it is very good stuff and fun to read or thought provoking and I may read their articles and poems more than once and comment more than once and they try to pay back comment for comment and must go back to the same few articles because I don't keep up writing with them. For them I feel one comment per article is more than fine. I am grateful for the one comment and more than one for the most part is just asking extra work of them, and I like them and don't want them to have to go overboard, but they won't quit even though I've told them my feelings about this, that they write more and I will always comment more, but not necessary to try to pay back to that extent. So you never know.

Dan I do try to comment on everyone that comments on my articles. Sometimes I get behind but just keep plugging away because they have taken the time to comment on my material. I love the rewards here; but much more important to me is the people that I have been able to meet here they for the most part are wonderful people who have reached out on more then one occassion to me and others.

There are so many that have great talent that I find it hard to get off Gather.

I'm in, but I think you're really far behind already, Dan, because hundreds of people come every day and post comments on your chats / articles and give you stars / points, and if you're sincere about reciprocating to all of them, you're going to be one busy guy... probably too busy to chat. Just kidding, kind of... You are unique in what you do and that's why people are drawn to you and like your chats (me included), but with your size following, it's going to be hard to keep up.

I like the points, but I don't go tit for tat. I comment on a few people's everything...but I don't expect the same in return. I do it because they are interesting. I'd like to think they will reciprocate, but if I expect it, I might get disappointed.

I want points as much as any one else. That's not what brought me to gather, but I enjoy getting points for things I like doing. I don't mind commenting on others work and do comment quite often, for some it's daily. For the most part I enjoy reading what is written and contributing my own articles and pictures. I want to be honest and fair in my comments and want others to be the same.
