People think I am a little weird for this, but I make my own pumpkin puree from the pumpkins in my garden. It is a lot of work, and monetarily speaking, not worth it, but it tastes so much better, and has such a better texture than store-bought that I am compelled to do it. There is nothing like totally homemade pumpkin butter or pumpkin pie! Here is the process. Hope you enjoy my first ever photo essay!

I also make my own puree - but not with a microwave - just stick 'em face down in the oven and bake 'em till they are soft.
I would love to find out your recipe. I have never tried pumpkin butter. But i want to try it.
