What is most fun about the book is visiting with Spencer and gang as they solve another case.ÂÂ Going into the book, you can guess the ending, but it is enjoyable to follow Parker's characters as they figure out the mystery. There is violence and sex, but it is not gruesome or overt. Parker's dialog is simple and cutting at the same time.ÂÂ If you listen to the book, you will want to scream when you have heard "He said" and "She said" about a hundred times, but that is Parker's style.ÂÂ There are many puns and a bit of black humor from Hawk and a few Jewish stereotypes from Susan Silverman and FBI agent Epstein.ÂÂ Epstein invites Spencer to breakfast at a Jewish Deli in Brookline, Mass., but orders toast instead of a bagel because he doesn't want to seem like a stereotype.
For Spencer fans, the biggest question in the book is will he marry his longtime love Susan. The couple revisits the past and the book dwells on an incident 20 years ago when Susan was unfaithful to Spencer.ÂÂ Susan's life is threatened during this case and she proposed that they get married.ÂÂ Spencer spends a lot of time debating what to do and ....I won't spoil the end.
