I find it morally painful that our government sub-contracts private soldiers at a thousand dollars per day, while dictating cuts in medical care and benefits to our soldiers and veterans.
Capitalism may have turned this country in to the greatest nation in the history of time, but Patriotism founded this country; and Patriots have always protected this country.
When money and diplomacy won't stop bullets and bombs from flying, it's the patriots who fight while being fired upon and take the bullets meant for all of us.
When this country was founded there were a certain number of allies and a certain number of fighting forces who fought with us for the sake of the money they were promised. But the bulk of the forces that won our independence were regular folk who fought for no compensation, other than the chance to live free.
The truest defenders of our country are the people who leave home and hearth to take up arms in defense of our nation; not for cash, but for the honor and nobility that our country represents.
I'd like to remind the good people of our country that hired fighters can, and will, be easily turned when offered more money by others.
A patriot will never turn, no matter what money is offered, because their vision is locked on a lofty heartfelt goal. Namely, the preservation of our national ideals: Freedom, Liberty and Justice for all.
Capitalism may be American, but it should never displace Patriotism. There should be some point where government honors the individual's patriotism by drawing lines over privatization.
Without the service of Patriots this great country would cease to exist.
Please show your appreciation for the sacrifices our soldiers and veterans make.
Write your congressional representatives and give a veteran a hug this weekend.

the number of homeless Iraq/Afghanistan vets is growing and WTF is Bushwhack's answer?....to decrease funding for direly needed services and training for those who help our vets!....it just nauseates me,but i can't say i am really surprised by the news...

Patriots do not have to wear uniforms to be doing a job for the United States. Many of there private firms hire military veterans. Granted there are some bad apples in these firms but then again even in our armed services we have found some bad apples.
I have family who are merchant marines that are hired to haul equipment and they were offered higher prices by oil companies to haul equipment..they chose the DOD contract because it ment the supplies getting to the location.
G-hoto- Not sure where you got your information but if you need housing and are a veteran I can assist you getting some and also filing for benefits. The bill is being held up in congress currently to provide the benefits and budget for the VA.
