If she asks for your opinion or your help then yes you can help out. Otherwise, no. Put yourself in her shoes, would you want her helping you if you hadn't asked first? Just asking...

If this person is also a good friend of yours, you might casually discuss things. But since it's been Karen's friend for so long, I think it should be up to her to talk to Brenda and iron out whatever the problem may be. If she truly values this friend; she won't want to lose her and eventually break the ice. It's noble of you to want to help, but it's mama's battle. Whenever I 'fight' with my best friend and we're not speaking, I can't go more than a few days without talking to him...and I always make the first move to patch things up. That's how much I value him in my life...and I've even admitted fault when I had none just to have him back in my life and being my best friend. If Karen and Brenda really are best friends; nothing will keep them apart.

I agree with Danielle, people that have been friends for that long know each other very well and they know what buttons to push..if they truly mean alot to one another they will find a way to fix it.

dont try to fix it because them you could become the "bad guy" if things get worse. If things are ment to work out they will.

You can ask her if she wants to talk about it, but they have to find their way back to each other themselves. I have an old friend, who I will always know, but we have had our rough patches as well.

Be supportive of your wife and see if she wants to talk -- just be sure you're ready to actively listen. Seems like you're the type of guy who would on this subject. A rough patch can mean it's time for them to give each other some space, or it's just time to move on to new friendships in her life.
