LISA GARDNER
With eight consecutive New York Times bestsellers and over 8 million copies of her books in print, it may be surprising to learn that Lisa Gardner blames her entire writing career on flaming cheese. At seventeen she got her first waitressing job, serving an appetizer called flaming saganaki. Her hair caught on fire twice. Realizing her days in food service were limited, she started working on a novel. Then a funny thing happened during her junior year of college. The novel sold. Later, she wrote a suspense novel, the result of which was THE PERFECT HUSBAND. Now, Gardner spends her time visiting fascinating places like the FBI Academy, maximum security prisons, and abandoned state mental institutes. She routinely interviews FBI agents, forensic specialists, SWAT team snipers and even the occasional expert in mass murder. Gardner has had several books, including THE SURVIVORS CLUB, produced as TV movies. And best of all, her hair hasn't caught on fire in a very long time. She currently resides in New England with her husband, daughter, two dogs and three-legged cat. Her latest novel, HIDE, which received starred reviews from both Publishers Weekly and Booklist, is currently available from Bantam Books.

One question I've always wanted to ask is this:
Where does the inspiration come from for the interesting and sometimes "off the norm" characters you use in your books? They are fantastic, don't get me wrong but sometimes I wonder WHERE in the world did that person come from?!?
AND.....when you are "on a roll" so to speak, where do go to keep that inspiration going as to not lose the moment? I get distracted in a heartbeat and I am curious as to how you keep the suspence fresh in your writing? thanks! I may be back later with more questions....you're going to be tired of me I'm afraid! LOL
Thank you for providing me with many hours of exciting and edge of the seat entertainment!
