MPR's Martin Moylan reports Mainstream journalists launch online news site while MPR News Director Bill Wareham welcomes the new news director at WCCO-TV.
Does it make sense for news organizations to cover their own business, or do you prefer to get the scoop from independent media watchers?

You have to get your information from various sources. EVERY, yes EVERY site or station has their information gatekeeper. So, you have to get your news from a variety of sources on BOTH sides of the politcal aisle.
Look at MPR, they pride themselves(or pat themselves on the back or think they are legends in their own minds) on being "Unbiased". Do actually think there will be any guest onthe Kerri Miller show that will show the other side of the arguement that Paul Krugmen was making. I doubt it.
Gary, their site is displaying a launch announcement right now, but for awhile it displayed a list of the journalists that were participating. When it is up, I'd like your take on it. Hope you submitted that suggestion to the Midmorning team.
No feline-esque icon necessary, the chive. I suppose we should consider media just another form of business reporting. Acknowledging a parent / subsidiary is good (read: transparent) form. Despite what people might think, I know people are smart enough to see the connections, and not reflecting them in coverage is just plain cheap.
Is it possible that the more centrist interviews are simply more popular than conservative ones? (just a question - please don't shoot the messenger)
By the way, did I hear correctly that The Loop is broadcasting from Duluth tonight? I just checked their site and it seems to be sold out but the address is St. Paul. I thought I hear Jeff mention this on the radio the other day. Could you get back to me on this Julia? I sent them an email but I don't know how soon I'll hear back. Bullying sounds like it will be a wow of a topic and I'd love to be there.
Thanks for joining the discussion Beryl. I'm interested in your perspective on the site, so please don't hesitate to comment again.
paul, it is a business. I'd like to think any news organization can approach it that way. Or maybe in this new Internet powered world, we should be open about how it affects us personally? Pros and cons, pros and cons...
