Diwali is a festival of prosperity. It is celebrated for the victory of god over devil. In Diwali the main decorations are of lamps (Diyas). Even the poorest’ house lit a clay lamp. These clay lamps has a fuel of oil and uses hand made cotton thread. These lamps are lit to eradicate the darkness (all the evil things) from each corner of your world. Diwali celebrations mainly include three days. Each day has a different reason to celebrate. On the 1st day we celebrate victory of goddess over a devil. On this day everybody gets a holy bath before the sun rises. All women of the house massage the men (wives to there husband; daughters to there father & sisters to there brothers) with variety of oils and aromatic and medicinal scrub powders and then give them a bath. The 2nd day is the main day when we offer our prayers to Goddess of prosperity- Goddess Lame. The house is decorated with flowers and Rangel (drawing designs by using colored powders) and lightings. The 3rd day is Bhaubij or Bhaiduj- this day is exclusively for sisters and brothers.Sisters pray to god for wellbeing and prosperity of there brothers.Apart from this the celebrations includes small get together at all relatives and friends and neighbors. These get together go on for ten fifteen days after Diwali. There are many sweets and other homemade snacks preparations that are prepared only for Diwali and then exchange it with all the pals along with gifts. Thus Diwali mainly focuses on rejuvenating the bond between different relations in the family and even gives you a special occasion to share times with your beloved ones. It also is an opportunity to build relations with your neighbors and society.
