Family Emergency

There has been a family emergency with my family. It's my daughter...she tried to drown my son last night in the bath tub. She is going to be put into a group home for a couple days until we can figure out what's next. I may not be around for a couple of days.

I was supposed to do the Survivor group tomorrow but I can't do that now...sorry Amanda...I hope that someone sees this so they can tell her.

It is...but you know we have been asking for help. Child Welfare blamed it on me! Okay my daughter is 11 I think she knows what she's doing.

omg, Taylor. I'm so glad your son is all right. You are right, it is completely stupid that you have been trying to get help and been treated as you have, while she gets no help, and it comes to this. >:( I hope this finally opens the way, a better doctor, the answer needed, whatever the solution is that it takes.

Victoria ... my 14 yr old used to be very very violent and aggressive. I always assumed it was because of her father and the issues with domestic violence. I finally got to my witts end with her. I had to take her to a psychiatric center and have them commit her. She is now taking medications and doing much better. I know how you feel and what your going through. My daughter would pick one of my other 3 kids and just be violent and aggressive. She has pulled hair .. stomped on ... punched ... shoved on steps you name it. My other kids were afraid for their lives. My daughter when you would ask her why she was so aggressive and mean she would say she didn't know. When she saw the doctor they said she told them she couldn't control it and she just felt angry and mean. They said she is bi polar. She does have mood swings ... mostly toward the agressive side. Since she has been on medicine though she is doing a whole lot better. I am still working with her though .. but I know how you feel when no one will help. I am a single mother of four so its been insanly rough for all of us.

God bless you all...having a mentally ill child at home is incredibly stressful--when my son was in the hospital, I slept better because I knew he was safe. I always called last thing at night....the staff were incredibly understanding and kind. (This was the state hospital). Hang in there....you're not alone....

Maybe if she goes to a counselor and an MD they can put her on meds. With a lot of supervision she will be able to be back with you. For now, take it one day at a time. We are all here for you in P.A.D.D. God Bless you!

you know I have been trying to tell them its that she is bipolar...but no one will admit that that's what it might be...they don't diagnose that until they are in their teens...

That really sucks that nobody would help until something bad happend...I sure do hope she gets the help she needs now. I am glad that everyone is alright too...I will keep you and your children in my thoughts and prayers, and hopefully they can test your daughter, figure out what's going on, and start fixing it. Taylor, you are in my thoughts and prayers. I hope your daughter is okay and the whole situation is resolved very, very soon. I don't know about Canada, but here the system is often messed up. Parents who need to be hassled get a pass and parents who don't need it, get hassled. And the mental health system is just about nothing if you don't have good insurance or money.

I hope your family is reunited soon. In the meantime, do what you can to take care of yourself. And this wasn't your fault. Don't let anyone tell you otherwise.

I too just saw this, and know exactly what you are going through. My now 35 year old is bipolar, and I have been saying so since she was about five....maybe earlier. Back then it was not diagnosed until they were young adults, and by the time that anyone listened to me, it was far too late. I just ran across something in one of my online disability groups about younger bipolars. Let me dig it out and I'll PM it to you.

Holy crap!!! I'm way behind. When I saw that your daughter came home, I thought I'd better read backwards and catch up. Though there was never any insedents like you mentioned with her and her brother, we had a teenaged problem with someone with whom we were lovingly and deeply involved with at some points in the past (won't say too much on here) so I have a sliver of an idea what you are talking about. It's SCARY CRAP to have to deal with.
