We should put much of our money in recycling.
A moritorium on all new plastic bags- why can't they make plastic bags from all the old plastic bags?
We are swimming in our own waste products and we want new, yet so much waste is killing the planet.
No more killing tree's for our luxury and amusement.
We need to create the infrastructure & foundations now to turn all the waste back into reusable products now.
Trash to treasures is the number one priority.
We have the technologies now and it will be imperative for all of us if we are to survive so we better getting moving and fast.
We are so grand- we build castles and exploit what we feel is ours by right.
Our children, childrens will curse us the Son's & Daughters of our Parents who taught us so many of the wrong things', yet demanded that we show honor unto them?
Who here do you know that is truly deserving?
If there is no retribution or accountability everyone of us are guilty as charged.
Many talk a good game, yet it is obvious to even the casual observer the truth about our situation.
Action only happens when enough people step up to the plate and say that they are willing to do what has to be done out of conscience and the light of reason.
We put actors up on the pedastle and we are taught to emulate their actions as they create our personal myths.
I am sure this will not be my most popular article, yet it is something that has been eating at me for a very long time and like a volcanoe it erupts, because it has no where else to go.
What are the issues facing us and what one person has all the answers?
Whoever is the best actor will be the last comic standing and the joke will be on all of us!
Why do I know these things?
I see it in myself and yet in the end it is so easy to have a fatalistic attitude.
Just because we haven't seen it really go bad for us personally yet, doesn't mean that any of us are immune.
Strangely I am not a comedian, yet the folly of the way we are with the world makes this a comedy of errors.
We have all made a big mistake with our lives.
Stop the non- sense it is really so transparent that is makes a mockery of any real person.
Please wake up now and take action, everyone who heeds the call?
Bedlam and we all seem too be crazy?
"Yes in the land of the blind- the one eyed man is King!"

In my town we do recycle glass, cans, plastics and yard waste. We can return plastic bags to Safeway, and reuse paper bags at the Food Coop. I have some cloth bags and reinforced Ikea bags for groceries. But plenty still goes in the garbage.
In Sweden they separate the garbage and either recycle or incinerate. Not sure that incineration is the answer, unless what is incinerated is pollution-free, but even the smoke is pollution--what about that??
I'd vote for you!
Those that contibute are rewarded.
NIGEL for President!
Way to go Joel :)
No more plastic!
I will end the war simply, whatever happened to droping bombs on our infra-structure Hell in world war two when we left a grenade was usually sufficent to render it junk.
We could leave all the old stuff anyways it has seen way to much usage and needs to be upgraded now.
We can do it more cheaply and effectively because we w ill be able to put our massive technolgy ontothe issue of our defence.
A retreat is not surrender we hold all the cards we have the power.
So tell me if we gave it to Iraq- just gave it all to them and left by way of Kuwait and told everyone you have to learn- to live with yourselves these are not animals you are dealing with both fellow human beings- do it by finding commonality.
Why can't all these people participate in making the dream we all want.
That is the new revolution to party politics that once the people have spoken that the top others should be put in a position where they could effect the most good.
more to come.
Good points, good people wrong directions.

the real underdog!
I'm all for no more plastic bags. I'm just against government planning. Remove all regulatory barriers that stifle trade and competition, and let the local markets sort it out. If enough people want recycled plastic, or paper bags, then they should demand it, and vote with their dollars. Thats the way a free society is supposed to work.
Our environment is surely is going to hell in a handbag, but so is every other element of our society. The problem is central planning. Government should privatize everything it possibly can, most especially all property and the means of production. People and private entities take much better care of their own property, just look at the Communist countries, they are the most filthy and polluted and hazardous places on Earth. Government should enforce property rights; if an industry violates or damages another persons property they should be penalized.
Morals and values cannot be forced on a person or a society by way of government decree. Government central planning aimed at making people environmentally conscious would inevitably violate personal liberty and turn into a bureaucratic nightmare; just like government schooling, government agriculture, and every other utopian socialist scheme ever devised.
That is who Nigel truly is?
