The media and candidates are all a buzz, pontificating about how Senator Hillary Clinton supposedly said she was in favor of New York Governor Eliot Spitzer's idea of giving driver's licenses to illegal immigrants during the recent Democratic Debate at Drexel University. Here's the truth of it.. She did NOT say she was in favor of it. I watched the debate; and you can read the transcripts of the debate posted by The New York Times by clicking here: NYT Transcript: The Democratic Debate on MSNBC .. and check for yourself. The closest thing Hillary said to "being in favor of it" during the debate was; "It makes a lot of sense." and she said that AFTER Senator Dodd accused her of saying she was in favor of it. That's it. Period. Ever since Walter Cronkite left the news business, media folks seem to care more about providing captivating conversations to their audiences, instead of sticking to objective truth telling and accurate fact finding. Any reporter worth their salt could have watched the videos over and over again, or read through the applicable transcripts, in order to find the truth and tell about it; but then that wouldn't have made for stimulating on-going coverage, would it. If you want something better read how to get it in "Invisible Hand" now available (22 of 43 chapters so far) at my Gather site or complete (no ads) at:
http://www.unc.edu/~mason/hand.html
It shows just what we need to do to get unbiased, complete, honest reporting of elections and everything else. The media really can do it if that's what they get rewarded for doing. Just now all the money is in lies and show business.
Thanks for sharing the link. I'll give it a look.
Going to church every Sunday may make sense to someone, but that doesn't mean they're in favor of it.
Still not the same? Well its play political games..
Hillary was straddling the fence..so she can get votes on both sides..
Bill- So Hillary is against sense and logic?
Sense and logic would dictate that if people are going to be driving in our country, they should be trained and licensed to do so. If we can't deport all the illegal immigrants (and be assured we cannot) then they should be trained and licensed (and carry insurance) in order to make our roads safer.
Karen Taylor - I have to sort of agree with Donald C. on this point. Impeaching Cheney and or Bush at this point will do nothing but detract from more pressing national concerns. In order to be really effective, impeachment should have happened several years ago at best.
Since all we can really do now is mark-up the historical records with our disapproval of how they've run things, we might as well wait until they are out of office before starting any legal or congressional actions. If some think otherwise, and if they think it strong enough, then they will start something now, anyway; and I wouldn't stop them.
You are right, it's really too late for that to do much good. At this point, impeachment would only be a referendum and not a set of brakes.
Bill-Providing illegals a Right to drive..will then mean they will want to work more, drive without insurance, what about ownership of the auto, titles, registrations.. must be a resident in most states to register an auto in that state. Insurance uses credit information for the risk ratios. I see several problems this will raise.
I have no problem with illegals paying to get drivers education. State can mandate uninsured motorist insurance..some do already..
Bill- What I am waiting for, is having the Federal Government make all interstate signs in Spanish also..LOL Be a good work bill.
Please provide me again where I said it was funny. Thanks, you can not because it never happened.
I prefer a candidate/leader who sees the world as it is and deals with it according to how it is, instead of trying to press their own limited perspectives upon it. A leader who can only see black and white will inevitably exclude and alienate millions of Americans; and that is not the traditional nor historical American Way.
Although you accuse Hillary of being a flip-flopper, the truth is that she is standing strongly and firmly for what she believes in; and that includes being more than just black and white.
