That is right, I don’t have a couch, I have lawn chairs. Starting over is never fun and it is even worse when you have two girls in college like we do. (and I am in college full time as well, so really three!) Divorces are expensive, but you would think that over the past year we could have managed to get a couch or at least a table. I could probably have painted, but without a stitch of furniture, I just can’t decide! It just hasn’t been anywhere near the top of our list of priorities.
But….Collins Nonfiction and the "Bright Ideas from Bestselling Authors” Group has a contest going on right now on Gather and I could really use your help. They are giving away an expert design consultation, a new Flip Digital Camcorder, and a $2,000 Crate and Barrel Shop Card to the person that needs to redecorate the most. Here are the details: Downsizing Your Home With Style - Win a Design Consultation, a Camcorder, and a $2,000 Crate and Barrel Shop Card!
Basically, it looks like they will pick ten finalists based on the number of comments and ratings and then Lauri Ward, the author of Downsize Your Home with Style, will choose the winner.
You, my Gather friends can help me get rid of last summer’s lawn chairs and really brighten my family’s outlook on life by just going to the horrible picture of my sad living room and rating and commenting on it. And hey, in case we don’t win, why not offer up your suggestions for decorating frugally??
It would mean so much to me to be able to have a “together” home for us to come home to. We have a cute little house, but really, we are stretched to our limit and at 59, I just don’t think that my better half should have to be sitting in a lawn chair in the front room!
So, will you help me move on from redneck decorating and please check out my picture and comment?? I will be sure to give back in kindJ Thanks for reading:)

Have to look for one in your area.

I will go check out the link & vote/rate ya! :-)
If you were close.....
My church takes in donated like new items & often delivers these to those
who request them.
Especially at this time of year, you'd be surprised what people don't want. They even have sofas, tables and other items which they are planning to replace with new furniture for the holidays. Although we never took any furniture from Freecycle, we once gave an excellent, barely used bunk bed to a family. It was in great condition! We also bought our family room couch from a neighbor who was moving for a very low price.
Jane, I haven't checked freecycle yet today, thanks for reminding me!
I have been haunting garage sales, craig's list, freecycle, etc. so far no luck:(
You got my 10
