Personally, I’d rather see Iran dealt with by pulling certain economic and diplomatic levers combined with specific military strikes than full-out war, but it seems that about half of Americans would be ok with war if it came to that.
Which is a high number, given that Democrats tell us constantly about how tired Americans are of war. Maybe anti-war sentiment in America isn’t quite what the left would have us believe it is.

Let those who 'favor' it - go fight it!
Zogby Poll -Majority of American Voters Back Military Action Against Iran
Nippy and TA; you guys (and the Democrats) are out of step with most of America. Keep it up and Republicans will keep the WHite House and probably take back Congress.
vickie; neither Zogby nor Gallup are going to rig a poll to take any side. That would kill the credibility. They're reporting what the scientifically proven survey methods are finding.
Liberals had better come to the realization that they are outside the mainstream on this question.
They usually do. You should be happy that we have an all volunteer military. One which is filled with people who keep this county safe and are willing to serve for those who who want to be safe but are not willing to do anything to keep it that way.
I see that in response to the question "How concerned are you that the U.S. will be too quick to use military force in an attempt to prevent Iran from developing nuclear weapons?" 76% of the responders were either somewhat or very concerned.
In response to the question: "What do you think the United States should do to get Iran to shut down its nuclear program?" 73% favored a diplomatic solution if possible.
In response to the question: "How concerned are you that the U.S. will not do enough to prevent Iran from developing nuclear weapons?" 73% were somewhat or very concerned.
These are fascinating results. More than 2/3 of the responders thought that a diplomatic solution would be best and thought the government would be too quick to take the military option. Roughly the same percentage thought the US wasn't going to do enough. Umm...I can see several different ways to interpret this. Everything except "people are confused" would be spin.

That makes attacking Iran a smart idea?
From the above essay,
"A 2002 Time/CNN poll found that 59 percent of Americans believe that the prophecies found in the Book of Revelations are going to come true." Jeez, about 50% of the voting public voted for Dubya.
Thanks for your comment, Nippy.
