So, last night, I was sitting there, watching Dancing with the Stars (one of my guilty pleasures) and all of a sudden, I was consumed with laughter and shock!
Helio Castronevus (Indy car driver) and Julianne Hough had just done their Samba (the dance of celebration, and also originating from Brazil - Helio's home country) and the judges were starting to give their remarks. Len Goodman, the older, British judge, made a comment that he is surely being reprimanded for.
He said, "Just because you're from Brazil does not mean you will be good at the Samba. Just like if you are from Texas does not mean you will be a good President." !!!!!!!!!!!
Now, a few things crossed through my mind immediately after I stopped laughing. Either, A) Bush is going to have him killed (or at least his career killed), B) ABC is going to have a talk with him and give some sort of punishment - probably monetarily and very low-key.
I think it's one thing when Americans criticize the president but it's a whole other can of worms when FOREIGNERS do! (Not that I'm more offended!)
I see it two ways... We have a right to criticize the president because he is representing us (or supposed to be). But, when people from other countries realize how bad of a job he is doing and feels the need to comment, we need to realize JUST how bad it really is.

I may have to start watching Dancing with the Stars just for little gems like this.
I agree and also disagree about him not making remarks about the president. Do we in America not make remarks about the Royal Family?
I'm not a fan of our Prez.
Just.. two sides to the coin. I DO hate I missed that. He's such a funny fellow.
He's not even a blip on the radar screen, politically. Besides, in the UK on the nightly news it's common for commentators to rip the US President, whoever he is. They consider it sport there...........like fox-hunting.
I think he has a green card, Bee-yotch... Bruno quickly said, "Green card, revoked!"
And yes, they are a bore, aren't they?
Lainie - I welcome ANY criticism of our president, regardless of the nationality or citizenship or residency or career aspirations or dance abilities of the source. In all cases, it is a sign of intelligence and common sense.
P.S. - and I am afraid that I will have to delete from the Reality group if the "Bee-Yotch" comments get out of hand. ; - /
That was one of my points.... It doesn't take much intelligence to see how our current Pres (and his admin) have screwed up the country (and the world)... And the fact that the rest of the world sees it and now comments on it should make more Americans open their eyes to the reality of the situation....
P.S. Noted.
There is plenty of criticism to go around. Dissent is an American value.
Well, that was quick!
And, sorry about the generic quotes. I didn't have my pen and paper ready last night to copy the exact quotes down. But, you get the idea. : )
Off the cuff remarks made by people really do not carry much weight, in my opinion.... Because there is no action behind it. Oprah is DOING something. Bono is DOING something. Even Angelina "Big Lips, the Better to Kiss You With, My Dear" Jolie is DOING something..... Len Goodman's comment was meant to be funny. Maybe take a jab at the president (or the US, more likely) but overall, he's not lobbying for action to be taken against Bush (he's leaving that up to Kucinich).
Shhh ...... be very very careful. Bush's people are everywhere ..... even here. You know they monitor everything and everyone. They would have no trouble finding you guys and you might find your own butts at Gitmo.
Bahawawa .....
ROTFLMAO
Sheryl! THAT is Hilarious! That Jon Stewart is hilarious and very clever.
Lera, *sigh* Thanks for reading and commenting.
YOU would be in solitary confinement - probably in a dark hole somewhere so sunscreen will not be needed, Dani!
The Big Bad "W" strrrrrikes Again!
Cannot make additional comment at the moment.
I need to come back to this, but I did give you a 10.
As a society, we are far too sensitive. When it comes down to it, Who the flying fudge really cares what a non-citizen thinks about our president? We're the ones that elected him and we're the ones that will suffer for that. Not him. He's entitled to his opinion, and it does not reflect the opinion of ABC. If anyone cannot realize those simple little truths then they are too ignorant to even be worth explaining it to.
Besides . . . who's going to change their mind based on an opinion in this setting? Does anyone really say . . . OH! DAVID HASSELHOFF supports Clinton?? Well, shucks . . . Sorry Bush . . . That boy can swim!! I like letting everyone talk. It helps sort out the morons! :)

The truth about Jane Fonda is that the public repelled at her notions about what direction the country should be going. Many people think that because the public was anti-war that Jane Fonda's ideas were accepted. They were not.
He may have well been referring to H.W., Lyndon or one of the preceding Presidents, yes?
(Lainie, I am trying my best to clean this up!)
Over the weekend, I realized just how HUGE Dancing With the Stars is! It seems like a show that everyone can get into for one reason or another. I bet Doyle watches because Edyta never wears more than 1/4 of an outfit.

Just wanted to see if you were paying attention. : )
What Bush does affects the world, so the world has a right to express their opinions of him.
Are there actually people here who have NOT seen UFO's? I'm wondering where they keep their heads that they miss things like that. (He didn't claim to see aliens, Shirley McLaine says he saw an UFO.) At least there is some proof that UFO's exist, which is more proof than we have of the God that talks to Bush and that millions of others claim to see and hear.
As always, the voice of reason. : )
And, I agree with you - and Sheryl - which is pretty typical as well. Something about people that just make sense! Hard to find around these parts but when you do, stick with them!
