Female To Male Ratio Among Your Gather Connections

   Just yesterday, Elena noticed how many female connections I had. I never really took notice, but yes it is true the majority of my connections are woman.

  Question: What is the percentage of female to male ratio among your connections. My connections have almost 90 percent woman to 10 percent of males. I never intended it to be that way, it just happened. So tell me do you prefer to connect with the opposite sex or does it not matter?

I connect to anyone who asks. I think I may have more females than males on my list, though.

I guess that's because a lot of the discussions I respond to are started by women.

I connect with anyone who asks. That's part of what we're here for. To interact in all ways with everyone. We don't always have to agree and see eye to eye, which is part of what makes us all uniquely individual. It doesn't matter what their sex or sexual orientation...they're another person to get to know is some way.

I have more females than males as connections, too...because the females outnumber males when it comes to membership to begin with. Stay at home moms, students, more mature ladies...with a little extra time on their hands to be creative and 'chat' with 'friends'.

I have about 80 percent females. ust may be more women in Gather, I do not discriminate by gender.

I have never really thought about it too much. I probably do have more female connections then men. I connect to everyone who wants to. I like diversity.

Lori, I also will connect to anyone who asks, but I wonder perhaps my subconscious does tend to stir me to the fairer sex.

I do tend to be more open here on Gather and least when it comes to my poetry.
I think it has to do with the sex distribution here.

I have 17 (or 19, if you count The Chive as 3) male connections, 23 female, 1 feline and one unknown. I have no preference for one over the other, as long as they keep me entertained. I also have many subscriptions and have no idea what the distribution is there.

I've never thought about male/female. I define my connections as humorous/political/essays or great writers/great comments.

I have at least several of each sex. Since I am a compulsive coach it doesn't matter to me whether I am "connecting" to men or women. They can all teach me things and, so far, I have been able to help them as well.

Juan ~ Never noticed. But I think mine tend to be most female. Myself being a female, I'd say that lends to more females being on Gather? Or men just don't like me, lol. For the most part I've not made connection requests, just accepted those that were sent to me. But it kind of makes sense to me that women probably lean more toward writing than men do, kind of goes to the "women like to talk more" theory : ). Good question!

I think that most of my connections are from women, but I don't mind the men either. I think over time my connections ratio will become more balanced.

I go more by quality of content - I want connections that post good stuff that I enjoy viewing, doesn't matter what gender they are. But I do believe there are more women here than men.

Juan- Just tell her your so darn attractive they flock to you..LOL

I think often it might be where you visit and topics. Some topics I find men appear to be on the comments more, others women.. Gather overall (on a limb) I guessing has 75% women. Just an observation..might be wrong.

Most of my connections are women and I am a woman so I don't think it has to be an opposite sex thing. I think there are mostly women on Gather that are active?
