being an artist and mom and someone who meets 40,000 + people a week I feel that if it is your destiny then who am I or anyone else to judge.... If people realized that we are all breathing the same air and every breath is leading to death one day then they'd stop judging and start living... goood luck and God bless is my motto....

I've been happily married to my husband for 21 years with five beautiful children and a grandchild. I have a gay brother-in-law who lives with his partner of 20 years and I love them both dearly. Two of my closest friends are lesbians. I think we all need to learn how to accept a person for who they are and not what society says they should be! I truly wish you all the luck in the world in your relationship Laurie!

Homosexuality doesn't bother me at all. You are what you are.

The only reason anyone thinks Homosexuality is wrong is because of a few words in the Bible. To me the Bible is a book, religion is a means for some to find inner peace and for others to hide behind.
I believe that You and I and everyone else are a creation of the creator, are in fact a part of the Creator. Just like everything and everyone else in the Universe. Some humans can not deal with life, they have to find fault in anything or anyone that is different then themselves, they are also a part of the creator, for with out the delusions you can not have enlightenment, without hate you can not have love, there is a balance to the Universe that is too perfect for most humans to comprehend. Live your life in a way that brings you joy, express that joy to everyone you come in contact with through your actions and attitude. You will in return draw joy to you.

I agree with Katherine. You are you and that's all you can and should have to be. Whatever God there is, is mainly about love, understanding, and acceptance. Or at least that's what I think. I am happy for you and hope you have a great life!

I think that we have much to learn about sexuality and gender. It is more of a continuum than it is two opposing positions.

Society has come a long way already Who would have thought that Gays and Lesbians could legally marry in Massachusetts not to mention countries like Canada, Britain, Spain and many others. Domestic partnership has allowed for more rights and freedoms but it is still separate and unequal.

The discussion about equal marriage is likely to mean that my children and your "future children" : ) as children of equal Marriage- will grow up in a country less familiar with homophobia.

Thank you everyone for your kind words! My partner had posted a similar article and got a completely different response; we are demon possessed, will rot in hell, etc. It's nice to see there are so many accepting people out there!

LaurieAnn, my son came out when he was seventeen. I would like to think that had I not been a single mom trying to work two or three jobs and go to school full time, I would have known long before then. It's easy to look back now and wish that I had done so many things differently, but all three of my children are wonderful adults now and swear they do not "hate" me for divorcing their dad and turning their lives upside down.

Still, I wish I had been there more for my son and made his "coming out" easier. It was not easy, twenty years ago.

Lord, I say that like it IS easy today!

I have a niece who just turned twenty-one and came out about a year ago. Her two older brothers will not let her be around their children when she is with her partner, nor will they even agree to meet her. It is sad that my nephews and their families will not allow the children to get to know her, because she is a wonderful person.

someone once told me that a preacher asked Billy Graham what he would do if he found out that one of his children were gay. He answered "I would love them that much more". Myself, I don't look at color, religion, sexual preferrences. I look at the person for the person they are. why hide behind a "title or name" be who you are and stand tall. GOD made all of us, who are we to say that GOD is wrong in something that HE made in the first place?? Be happy, love and be loved, all the other stuff is just that

I randomly decided today to look at other gay and lesbian members on gather. When I read your post I decided to look at your comments. I was stunned (and thrilled) to find my aunt's words. My partner and I recently decided to have a ceremony done next year. Unfortunately we live in Oklahoma so it has been difficult to do all of the necessary plans without being ridiculed. Your site made me smile, so I just wanted to say thank you to you and to all who support equality, no matter who it is for...I wish you and your partner the best.
