You Sound Just Like Your Mother!

Do you ever catch youtself echoing the phrases of your parents?  "Because I said so!"  "Clean Your Room"  "Wait 'til your father gets home!"  Every day I sound more and more like my mother despite all the promises I made as a child to "Never be like my mother". 

So which of your parents words fall out of your mouth without your permission?

Unfortunately it comes naturally. I don't have any kids so I'm not saying things my mom used to say but I do catch myself doing things she does.

I do that all the time! Sometimes I say something and I sound just like my mom so I resay it in a different tone ;)

My Mom only had one I used, This hurts me more than it does you. The first time I had to spank one of the children. The others belonged to my Dad. He was wise, sweet, taught good life lessons.

It just makes me realize why my mom did some of the things she did.....I say, "because I'm the mom, that's why."

It does come naturally. I made a concious effort NOT to sound and be like my mother. I always really hated the one about ...you need to finish your food! Don't you know there are children starving!

Being a third-born child, I'm probably more of a rebel and less likely to fall into this category. But sometimes I may talk or act a bit like Dad, then I have to get back into my own personal groove! And remember, the nut (as illustrated by the Bushes and others) never falls far from the tree! Thanks for posting this.

My mother was wonderful, and aspire to be like her. She was calm and wise. She did not raise her voice in anger or say hurtful things.

I don't like to admit it, but I hear myself saying things (just like my mom) that I swore I would NEVER say!!

I am not a parent yet, but I am starting to make a list of things that my mother always says, so I don't say them to my kids
