this is part two of a story/poem about a soldier and his girl
He lives and loves another day
In this wasteland of death
But it’s worth it to fight
Just to feel her breath
Up against his neck at home
He longs for her
Here he feels alone
She stares at the image
That is her in the mirror
She sobs silently to herself
Knowing the message is clear
He might not make it back
Ti see his little boy
When he could be a sitting duck
In a line by a convey
She wipes her eyes and clutches her stomach
Prays and hopes for luck
He walks the line
Marching with men and women
Of the fine forces
Fighting for mom and dad
Sister and brother
For his country
And for his lover
But he received a letter
Of happiness and sad
Now he was fighting for another mother
He was going to be a dad
He clutched the letter in his hand
And gave a little cry
But before he could put it away
Bullets whipped right by
Another lonely night
Of silence and tension
She fights her
Itching temptations
She’s almost given up all hope
Of his long awaited return
It’s a feeling that sends chills through her spine
And makes her soul burn
She cries herself to sleep again
Roadside bomb along the road
That killed four good men
He has lost all hope
Of seeing her again
Someone screams, “RPG!”
And it missed him by an inch
It followed with an explosion
That could make any man flinch
He hid behind the leading tank
He knew that he would die
He grabbed his cross, and her photograph
And gave a little cry
He cocked his gun, and stood up
Looked at the photo and said goodbye
He charged into the darkness
please pray for our soldiers as they fight for our freedom
