One of my favorite memories of Christimas time is when my daughter and I would make bread baskets. My husband worked for a well known frozen food home delivery service with a swan on the truck. (I don't want to mention the name.) One of the products is frozen bread dough. I would take the dough, after it thawed, and I would roll it out on the counter. Then my daughter and I would line various pyrex dishes with the dough and bake it. The bread would form to the pyrex dish and after it was cooled we would fill them with all kinds of goodies that we had been making, such as fudge, cookies, anything that we made. We would take saran wrap and wrap our gifts and then my daughter would take one at a time to each of our neighbors and others people on our gift list, go up to the porch and place it in front of the door. She would then ring the doorbell and run and hide. We loved watching the reactions from our giftees. It ranged from curiosity to outright pleasure. We never did tell anyone it was us. It's our secret, so shhhhhh, don't tell anyone.

I always like home-made/hand-crafted presents. They are more personal and very beautiful - gifts from the heart.
They will always hold that dear to them.
Very nice article to read on a cold Sunday morn in NH.
My favorite memory is watching my ex hold my daughter up so she could place the angel on the top of the tree. I have a picture of it every year since she was 2. Now I have her stand on a stool you can't see in the picture.
That is so much fun to do surprised like that.
