Jeremiad

Jeremiah lingered, pondered in reverence

the bereaved confrere ceremoniously gathered -

sinc erest rememberers, though severely bereft,

offered tenderest words, whispered comforts to sufferers.

He bolstered his courage then entered the sphere.

Smothered in grief that skewered his heart

Jeremiah persevered by sheerest determination.

None interfered as he veered to the front

of the reredos where she slumbered

Sequestered in silence, he shuddered then surrendered

to glittered tears falling in a silvered mere

His veneered austere shell finally shattered as he peered

Into the coffin at his beloved Serena there.

Jeremiad - tale of woe

mere - lake, pool

reredos - ornamental screen on wall behind altar

sequestered - isolated, kept separate and secluded

confrere - colleagues

Unfortunately it was late, Kristen, but I've given you a ten because you deserved it. I'm sorry about the publisher not working. I try to tell everyone, that just because you have a deadline, don't trust the puter to cooperate at the last minute, because Murphy's Law kicks in.

If you can get it done before Friday is a good thing. Then it's entered.

LOL! I think I've learned that the hard way Ernie ;-) Dumb 'puter never cooperates when I need it too, lol..... but if I have it ready with plenty of time to spare it'll give me no problems! Now if I could just get my brain to work when I want it too.....
That's ok, though - at least my kitty didn't erase the whole thing this time ;-)

But this is depressing! but good. the song that just came on is called I miss you...so this and that song is depressing!

This was very beautiful Kristen and I think it might have won if it had gotten in in time, sorry for that , perhaps you should republish it as just a regular poem as it is lovely
