Love

Love looms like a giant shadow.
He blocks my flight, and touches
me with hands like forged steel.
Like a doe escaping her hunter,
I run, but he captures me in muscled
arms, whispering reassurances.
I hear his rhythmic heartbeat
and fight to control my senses.
I gaze into concerned eyes, searching
for truth, but turn away afraid.
He presses his lips to mine.
Misgivings give way like loose
rock on a cliff. I acquiesce.
His gentle eyes show pleasure knowing
he has joined our souls forever.
