I have been at the hospital since Tuesday noon. Our daughter came in to have her baby after a trip to the doctor's office. The nurses put her on bedrest from the moment she walked through the door. Her water had broken and the fluids were leaking out. By 10 p.m. she still had not gone into labor. They gave her medication to induce labor. By midnight she started having mild contractions. At noon on Wednesday she had only dialated 1 centimeter. At 3:30 she had gone to 6. At 5 p.m. she was a good 9.5, but the baby was still far into the uterus and his head had begun to swell. One doctor was going off his shift and decided to let the next doctor coming on make the decision. She took one look and said C-section. At 6:53 p.m. October 31, 2007 our little pumpkin said hello to this world, weighing in at 7 lbs 2 ozs and stretching out to 19 3/4 inches. He is doing great and seems to be quite happy to be here. We expect to be here at least til Saturday, but it may be Sunday.
I had a wonderful experience in the hospital. Although it was hard work standing in as the second person or coach. The staff here is wonderful and allowed me to go and come as I was able. Mostly I stayed, telling my husband what I needed from home. I was even able to go into the OR to see my new grandson appear. Then I was able to go to the nursery to watch them do the tests, take the vital information and add the bracelets. Later I was able to observe his first bath and be placed in the window for family members to see.
Our daughter did a great job and dealt very well with everything, even though the pain of labor and then surgery was very great and long for her.
My husband just brought my laptop to me so that I could not catch up with what was happening. I am sorry that I was unexpectedly gone for a few days. I am sure some of you had figured where I was. Thanks for all your thoughts and prayers.

Sounds like she had a rough labor!
I was so lucky that my labor only lasted about 6hrs
Yes Michelle, he is definitely worth everything we went through.
