My son watches cartoons, but is only allowed to watch with one of us watching at the same time. We quiz him about what he's seen, and turn it into an educational experience. That way, he's learning and having fun too. We don't use the television as a babysitter.
I'll list some of the cartoons he likes and why we like them too:
Little Einsteins (Disney Channel)-Teaches him about Music and Art, he's learned lots of musical terms and instrument names. They also travel the world, so he's learned a bit of world trivia too.
Dora the Explorer & Go Diego Go (Nick Jr)-He's learned some Spanish from both of these shows. He's also learned about exotic animals.
The Backyardigans (Nick Jr)- This show teaches the kids to have a great imagination. It's been great for him. Since he started watching it, he's really developed a great sense of imagination and a love for playtime. They also have great songs in this show and he's started singing because of it.
So, do your kids watch cartoons? Do they watch for fun? Do they watch for learning? Or a little bit of both? What are their favorites?
