There are times I think tomorrow
Is a shadow without a face
And that of serendipity
Are but the clues we once had traced
In a backseat where words could flow
Finding stillness of night we breathed
And foggy windows could not know
We were on journeys to our dream
A small cottage kids in the yard
A budget blown with a sweet laugh
We dug trenches and worked so hard
And found our way with a torn map
We saw each other change with time
As celebration lost its path
But on rocky roads we found rhyme
And reason for our love to last
Remember days I know that song
As each photograph brings a smile
I touch your hand my heart belongs
Within the etchings of our miles
With this day you have my promise
And everyday I vow again
For my desire speaks of us
From this dawning until night ends
Can I say the words I love you
From this old heart that beats a drum
You are the warmth a sky so blue
You're my morning and setting sun
So as we drift upon this day
With common patterns in our life
My heart and eyes in silence trace
A simple thanks to you my wife

I think that that third stanza is one of the rchest seen here in Gather. It says so much in just a few words.
You are blessed with a beautiful companion and so is she. You're blessed too by the ability to reveal your inner thoughts in the most vibrant ways.
Wonderful moment here with you Bill and your love.
Old love is the best. The knowing and safeness of being with someone a long time.
Very nice William.
As celebration lost its path
But on rocky roads we found rhyme
And reason for our love to last
(this is exactly what my husband and I used to feel, but somewhere in the last year or just over a year, we lost the meaning to this phrase)
Very very moving and touching tribute to your wife. How lucky is she?
Lovely poem!
Convey my hello to your world..
The torn map makes me want to cry.
to have her man feel this way about her... we are not all that lucky...
God bless you and yours...
Thanks for sharing it.
Could you make a beautiful poem regarding husband too?
Love this soft poem for your wife. A re affirmation of the love you share, a continuity of the dreams you saw together. How nice to have this sentiment in a life we burden with worries and stress.
Your poem will appeal to all romantic hearts here. It has a timeless appeal.
Loved these lines,
"A small cottage kids in the yard
A budget blown with a sweet laugh"
"And found our way with a torn map" A striking way of describing life in general
100 stars for this one!!
Blessings
also, glad to know that it takes you a while to write something this strong and personal. it takes time for me to get the real feelings or the truth of the feeling onto the page. sometimes it has to ferment and then be rewritten. great work.
