Fallen Angel Rock On a Scary Halloween Night

Folks in the little town of Carver

Still talk of the night

When the moon on the graveyard

Shone so bright

That the spirits there

Made the tombstones knock

And the beat began

For the Fallen Angels Rock.

Stone Angels danced

And pranced around

They rattled their wings

With a rhythmic sound.

Ghosts on stone walls swayed in line

To the beat of the bones

And jazzed up the sound

With eerie, scary moans.

Then a banshee rose from the newly fallen leaves

And began to wail

Like the shriek of wind

In a rollicking gale.

The beat was heard

All through the town

All windows shook

And pots fell down.

Then cradles swayed

And clocks ran wild

And townsfolks rushed

Outside to see

What was making the town

Rock crazily.

Carverites cheered

When they saw the scene.

It looked like

The best-ever Halloween.

So they all joined in

And stomped their feet

Even the Selectmen

Boogied to the beat.

Now folks still talk

Of that wild, wild night

When the moon on the graveyard

Shone so bright

That the spirits there

Made the tombstones knock

And the whole town danced

To the Fallen Angel Rock.

Roy, I wanted to come up with a Halloween theme but I was limited by the pictures I had stored. This was the best I could come up with this morn on such short notice.

Halloween is all around. Nice poem to add to the mood. Your photographs fit with the theme.
Love that leaves only image..what colors and sharp edges.
The rock wall and the line..A banshee rose from the fallen leaves.....had me rushing away from that pic :P It is sooooo evocative.

Sometimes, Minnie, early in the morn, my mind just has the strangest thoughts. I saw Kathryn's Writing Essential article and thought, "Ummm, what could I post? Then I looked at my images and went out on the porch for a few minutes to mull it over and this came to mind!"

Magi, I can't wait for my unexpected guests...they will add so much color to the Fallen Angel Rock. Do hope they like to boogy! The party is going most strong now with bats swooping in the sky and little brown mice romping by...then of course, Ophelia, Othello and Sophia are making quite a din as wise-eyed owls come swooping in.

Bob, your response to Roy speaks to what I was feeling during this reading.
Delightful poem. Lovely photos. I just don't get the feeling that they go together.
I think each element -- the poem and the photos -- would make a great publication on its own.
At the same time, I did enjoy this reading.

Ina...you should of seen me looking at the pictures this morning...ok...stone wall...doesn't look too creepy to me...what can i say about a stone wall? AaH-HA...ghosts are invincible...ok...we'll put them on the stone wall! Well, I have these fall leaves, ummmm...where can i go with them???Now it would have been nice if I had some real banshees or pictures of ghosts....but, didn't have any images of those.

Oh Bridget, hold on to your trick a treat soul, you should see the pictures I took today in school. Hopefully, I can post them later tonight an article. Thank you for providing those wonderful cupcakes for our politically correct Fall Holiday and understanding why I could not post a regular "We are having a Halloween Party......"! The day went really well....we adhered to Time on Learning with a Twist!

They did arrive wilma and quite a crew they were carrying cans of vegemite and kegs of guinness....when I told them it was a non-alcoholic party, they just poo-pood me and said, "Lady, we go absolutely no where without our vegemite". I said I didn't mind the vegemite but the guinness had to go. With that they opened up all four hundred kegs and swilled it all down. That's when Luigi went legless and fell into the bog. If we didn't have an angel with us I don't know what the outcome would have been...but I do know magi would be a wee apprehensive about sending any more of his characters my way.
