Hunter's Moon
by Marianne McNamara
Framed by gold-tipped maple leaves,
pale muted sky and leafless black branches
like Chinese brush strokes in an ink drawing,
the dethroned Hunter's moon descends
across the cold clear October dawn,
slips behind the steeply gabled roof next door
and silently surrenders in the western horizon
as the monarch sun returns to rule in the east.

I like these lines:
pale muted sky and leafless black branches
like Chinese brush strokes in an ink drawing,
Well done!
That beautiful moon was just outside my window for several mornings. Truly magnificent. Thanks for commenting.
I appreciate you taking the time to read my poem and comment. Many thanks.
