Why Profiles Are So Important!

Yes you can create your own unique way of expressing who you are or you can be yourself, but one things that everyone should do is create a profile.

If you haven't then you are part of the voyuer people the ones that use their hiddeness as a cover up for something negative in their predilection.

It is alright to create your profile using your favorite photograph or writings, but it is everyones persona and introduces you to everyone else in the community.

Your profile may not be accepted by some people, But- you are not trying to reach everyone that is impossible or even if you do there will be people that enjoy you and people that will not!

So the profile is the most important door to work with on the Internet!

It will soon be the portal where all inter- connectivity will then manifest your resume.

So if you have not created a profile do it!

To begin communicating your art introduce yourself and tell the world who you are ?

Add your links and say " Hello World this is ME! "

Or for some bizare reason you have not contributed, but are truly of that rare breed that enjoys complete anonymity ( meaning "without a name" or "namelessness".) and that is always a possability, but not the rule!- Oh well!

That is why I send my link to everyone - Everyone who is interested and can find me within here.

That is why I feel Profiles are so important!

You are so right! If some don't want to fill out a profile, that's OK, there are other ways to find out who they are....No one is anonymous.

I am guilty. I did not fill out my profile. But profiles are a little like resumes aren't they? Don't folks try to make themselves look more inviting and interesting in a profile? I admit I rarely look at them. I tend to make up my mind about folks based not only on what they write but also how they respond to others. And if I just look for people who are like me and have the same interests as me then I will miss out on learning new things. If I like Bach and someone else likes polka then I don't want my profile getting in the way of meeting a great polka loving person. And women are shyer about putting personal identifiers in a profile. Well maybe I will get around to filling out some of my profile. :-)

Good article Joel. The new search options does make our profiles somewhat more important for people who are searching. It is also important to keep it updated. What seems important at one point may not be so at another.

I like it when someone asks for a connect that they tell me why they like to connect, like they like my icon, or we have the same tastes in music. It's nice to know "why" someone wants to connect with you. =)

I have noticed alot of people on G have not profiled. I'm fairly new, so I'm still working on mine. I don't use it as a requirement for a connect request, but it's a quick way to get to know somebody you don't know...

Pro filing is great for people who are relatively honest. However, just as if gather were an adult kinda MySpace.com, people cruise these spaces looking for unsuspecting big adult kids to ahhh.... Zoom. Connecting's great, but I usually check out what people have written in articles, their interests, and try to get a basic overall feel for their person. If I don't like 'em, I don't connect. Simple. Gather is just like your neighborhood. And unfortunately, It ain't Mister Rogers'. Hood that is.

My profile is the table of content of my book.
My diary and journal- a simple creation that says " Hello This is me!"
I put n one else on any scale good, bad or indiffirernt.
It is my contribution as to who I was and some of who I am.
It reminds me of writing letters home from a time at camp or my memory of some past events.
I realise it matter so very little in any grand scope of things.

I had my profile public before and my exhusband started stalking my articles and sending messages. That is the reason some people don't put up a profile or pic. It isn't because they don't want to be public, it is because it can be dangerous.

I agree it is disappointing when someone wants to connect to now know something about them. Why are they hiding or did they just not bother to fill out at least some basics.

I agree it is a let down when people do not take the time out and fill out there profiles. I need to work on mine some to make it better. I just do out have the time to get to it today maybe another day I will have the time to fix it up better.
