We had a great turn out today at my habitat for humanity site. We had a group of guys show up from the job core. Then we had the regular group of volunteers. So in all we had about 25-30 people! It was so nice to see everyone out there! We got the floor framing down before I had to leave for work. The guys said they are going to put down the supports and all the floor boards today. I am so excited!
I was talking to the job core supervisor and he said he volunteers to bring his guys out more often if we could arrange that. So the habitat office and some of the construction crew are going to see what they can come up with. It would be nice if they could work more than three days a week! Then the homes would get done a lot quicker.
They are buidling two homes next to each other. Mine and another ladies. I thought she was a single mother. She has three kids. When I met her today she told me she actually is not a single mother. The kids dad lives with her but the habitat office doesn't know .. geesh. Thats a little dishonest! Oh well. She is still a sweet lady though. He kids are about the ages of my younger three. So it will be nice to have someone next door who has kids too. Then they can play together. She had never seen the lay out of her house or anything. I gave her a copy and explained it to her. She was excited because she had no idea how the house was set up! I kind of got to pick the layout. I assumed she had gotten to have some say in it too. She hasn't even picked her colors for the siding yet!
I have already picked my colors for my siding, my shutters, my tile, my tub, and my counters. I still have to go in and pick out my carpet too. The side of the house is going to be yellow with burgendy shutters. The tile and counters are hard to describe! I will take pictures when everything is all done! I know for sure I am going to take lots and lots of pictures when the house is done! I can't wait!
On Thursday we are going to be putting up the walls. I guess the walls are going to come to us already assembled. They have the local prisoners put them together .. how cool is that? Gives them something to do and saves habitat a lot of money and the volunteers a lot of time! Neat right?
I am getting more and more excited as the days go by! :)

She is going to come help build too. She said she used to build with her dad and brothers before her dad passed away. She said she hasn't done any construction work since then. She says she is going to get her brothers together and come out and help! I told her all the days we will be out and she says she is looking forward to coming. :)
So I have met 3 neighbors so far.
Do you have a computer at home that the cable can be hooked to in order to transfer digital pics to your computer? I don't know if I can put them on my computer and then transfer them to you. Maybe in an attachment? Not sure. I can send them in an email but I don't know if you can put them on Gather that way.
God bless all...
