We've recently gained an elderly (15 year old) cat. I've found lots of conflicting information on pet food recently and have been wondering about the non-professional opinion.
What do you feed your cat? Wet or dry? Specific brands? Or do you hand make food?
We feed Blue Purina One's senior dry food and supplement with treats, both hand made and store bought. We're currently testing the addition of one can of wet food per week as well.

Given the fact that your new senior baby is advanced in age, he/she may need a special diet to meet the aging pet's special nutritional needs. Sometimes (especially during the pet food scares), we pet parents feel obligated to feed our babies human food. Although we have all good intentions, however, it is sometimes more appropriate to trust the vet's suggestion of a prescription diet for senior animals. I had been feed my dog human food since the pet food scares. Then, he developed gastrointestinal ramifications (nothing serious, but terribly uncomfortable for him). Despite my reservations on returning him back to the prescription diet for seniors, I did so anyway at the advice of my vet. And, I'm glad I did. He is losing the weight that he gained on human food and has more muscle. He not only looks healthier and happier ... he really is a happy camper!
