Does a glass or 2 of wine with dinner each evening make one an alcoholic?
I love a glass of wine each evening, before dinner, with dinner or after dinner and maybe all 3 times. I do not HAVE to have the wine and there are plenty of times when I do not have wine or any alcohol at all. But I do love the wine and often look forward to having a glass or 2.
My daughter is concerned that I am becoming an alcoholic due to my liking a glass or 2 of wine each day. To prove to her and myself that is not the case, I went all last week without any wine at all. I had water with dinner and also iced tea. I did miss the wine but not any more than I would miss my cup of coffee each morning.
What do you think? Am I becoming dependent on the wine and or alcohol?

I too enjoy a couple glasses of wine or a couple beers with dinner.
you can become an alcohilic in 2 ways...
1,hereditary(like i am)
alcoholism runs in my family bigtime..i myself am an alcohlic...ive learned to control it myself,im one of the lucky oness..
i used to down bottles of straight vodka daily...until one day i played football in the presence of the porcelin god for hours, that day forward,i decided i would never get that way again.and its beeen 16 years or more since i have..
i try to stay away from vodka and when i drink its usually only when i go to the casino, the moment i start getting buzzed hard,i stop drinkig and switch to coffee or soda..
the 2nd qway you can become an alcoholic.is when you enjoy drinking so much, you can functuion without it..for example..
the moment yuou wake up,instead of coffee or juice, you hit the botttle..
you drink all day, hiding it at work or wherever and try to disguise your drinking ..
well,you get the idea..
so no dear, your fine, you are far fom an alchy
but im sure you got the idea
And Medically it was proven that having 1 to 2 glasses of wine actually helps your heart!
Tell your daughter its for your medical condition! :)
There's something else to consider, something I never knew about until it happened to my mother. Drinking just one or two drinks or glasses of any kind of alcohol every single day for 20 years (or every other day for 40, perhas too...) can cause alcoholic dimentia. It has another name, but that's what it is and that's what my mother has. She never had more than one or two drinks at night, between 6 and 9 p.m.
It affects women more than men. And, actually, if you started drinking at...15, then you could have this by the time you're 35 or 40. (And...when you see homeless women who act a bit strange/forgetful this could be why.)
I don't know why no one ever talks about this! My dad had Alzheimer's and at least there were drugs that helped his condition. There are no drugs for a pickled brain.
