The future is about diversity in community.
The future is now, and onward, not some hazy distant idea.
The future is in how we learn to work out solutions to what ails us
that we may live long and prosper.
The future is the moment to moment growth and change we see
in children, in the young of all species, in the mutating possibilities of
expanding vision.
It is not about unity or duality or segmented boxes.
It is about the vast and growing diversity of ideas, skills, ways of being,
experimentation and knowledge of old lore and inspired leaps of passion.
It is about diversity in the service of community, the coming together of all
that grand diversity in the service of the greater good of all. It is about, not
becoming cogs or slaves to some ideal or structure, but each being free,
secure, respected, supplying the fruits of their visions to an endeavor
in which all prosper, all have appropriate investment and return.
It's not even about compassion or empathy, and certainly not altruism.
It's about understanding the nature of intelligent life's urge toward health
and peaceful interaction to continually create a more satisfying future.

I thought I was saying essentially your point.
This is not a liberal or socialist dream. It fully embraces the basic principles of capitalism (the "invisible hand" of the market whereby each person presents their goods/services that all may win-win) and libertarianism. It evokes the "commonwealth" as in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, Pennsylvania, etc. The idea is about free and equal individuals solving common problems together that each may include individual voice and concerns. It is the very basis of the US constitutional democracy, the underlying sentiment of the Declaration of Independence, the very juice that feeds the grandest possibilities and most personal dreams.
I hope I have made myself more clear. Thanks for the opportunity.
Peace,

"Well written, but I do not agree with you. Many of us might becomes slaves to the liberal , or socialist dream. I believe that this type of thought stamps down individualism and creative thinking, and incentive to be the best you can be and leads to mediocrity. It all sounds rosy and friendly but really it is not.....just my opinion."
