Why is it that the Christian Right Wingers have succumbed to the temptation of using "godless liberals" and the "secular left" as scapegoats for everything they don't like in American politics. I am sure "godless liberals" do exist and and they could create a secular left if they wanted to. Just a thought.

I think it is always easy to throw blame, like a blanket, on the other side. I try very hard not to throw all conservatives into one big stereotype, but it is difficult when the same thing happens to liberals.
I may be Godless but I'm way to the left of liberal.
One: It has to be someone else's fault, because God and righteousness are solely on their side.
Second: Saying it this way helps keep any wandering thinking Christian Righties cowed within the herd for fear of being branded and booted with shame.
We are often reminded by them, that they (Christian Right Wingers) are God's chosen people, and thus, pretty much infallible. 10
Some people feel more comfortable with something to believe in than something to think about.
I don't particularly like being labeled and pigeonholed, but I can live with it. But not when it's done by ignorant people who base it on nothing, or at best a few comments in an online discussion.
It seems Christians would want equality or a small change for the better as long everyone believes in their holy one, sacrifice their lives and worships without question as they do. years ago that would have been called a cult
