I admit I do have a very weird sense of humor. I was born and raised in NY. I am not sure if that has anything to do with it. I think it is the people I was surrounded by and partially my personality. Everywhere I have ever worked my coworkers always said I was so funny and cracked them up all day. I always took my job seriously, but wanted to have fun while doing the sometimes menial tasks. I always figured it was better to see the positve side of things and have fun while doing things that you don't necessarily want to do. And I figured I spent more time with the people I worked with than my own family, so we better have fun. Humor also seemed to make the day go quicker.
I do believe in God and have become a lot more serious about my faith and most important have been seeking a closer relationship with God over this past year. I think that God knows what is in our hearts and knows the intention of the words we use. I don't mean to offend anyone with off color jokes even if God or Jesus is involved. My intentions are not to disrespect Him or His word, but sometimes things are just funny to me and there is sometimes truth in it. I have a hard time lightening up sometimes and humor helps.
I truly think that God has a sense of humor and the proof is that he made me!!!!

If I see an "off color" joke referring to God, I just avoid it. That way, I have no need of getting offended and don't have to rate or comment.
But, as you said, He does have a sense of humor. Look at me, for instance! And then too, at my children. And many other people I know.
It's nearly November and 70-80 degree weather at my house! What gives? It is the Lord's doings and I think HE sits back and has a good laugh at the "experts" who tell us what "mother nature" is supposed to be doing this time of year.
What bothers you - the joke or the criticism? If the jokes themselves make you uncomfortable, it could be the conviction of the Holy Spirit. If not, your relationship with God is of primary importance. I try not to be a stumbling block to anyone but in the end each of us is responsible for having and maintain our own relationship with God. God has a wonderful sense of humor - I too am proof positive of that.
While we're here - one of my favorite God jokes that hopefully everyone will enjoy & not be offended by:
One day Jesus, Moses & an old man were playing golf. Moses teed off and it headed straight for a water hazard. He lifted his arms, parted the water hazard & the ball rolled across the bottom & onto the green a couple yards from the pin.
"Nice shot," said Jesus. Jesus teed up & the ball started to go into the same water hazard. Jesus stretch ed out His hands and the ball landed on top of the water & rolled across it to the green, landing about 10 feet from the pin.
Moses shook his head, chuckled and said, "Sweet!"
The old man stepped up and swung on the ball. His tee shot went nearly straight up in the air and came down toward the near edge of the water hazard. Just before it hit the water, a fish jumped out of the water & grabbed the ball. As the fish started to go into the water, an eagle swooped down & grabbed the fish in its mouth. The eagle started to fly away but ran into a tree branch. The eagle dropped the fish, the fish fell onto the green & dropped the ball out of its mouth and the ball rolled into the hole for a hole-in-one.
Jesus shook His head and looked at the old man. "Dad, if you don;t stop showing off we're going to leave You at home next time!"
Enjoy life one day at a time - the way God intended. And laugh often.
Be yourself, Be happy, Be funny!
Don't let no-one put that bright light inside of you out!
Everyone has a different sense of humor. I wouldn't worry about it. The one thing I do think about is how important seeing and hearing someone in person can be, to hear the tone of voice, the laugh in the words or something. Without that, words typed on a page can be easily misunderstood.
But that is just the way it is, here in cyberspace.
