We've got a 8month old Australian Shepherd. She's the same way. Cutest, cuddliest little gal this side the the Mississippi. Now, she's long legged, clumsey and still tries to be a lap dog and tries to do things she use to do easily as a puppy.
Her name is Maggie, but I like her nickname better. "Longshanks". lol
