Melissa McEwan, writing at The Guardian's Comment is free, calls Chris Dodd "the netroots' new hero." Speaking of Dodd's live chat at FireDogLake on FISA and his leadership on this issue, McEwan writes:
Quite honestly, Dodd was pretty damn impressive. A great extemporaneous speaker and refreshingly candid, he left no doubt that this issue is of genuine importance to him, no lingering qualms about calculated politicking. He's out front on this issue because it's long been his passion - and given an opportunity, he took a big swing and knocked it out of the park. He looks like a leader because he was ready to be one.
That's a breath of fresh air for progressive activists exhausted already in this long, long, oh-so-long primary season from the careful triangulations and hesitant, poll-tested leadership of the Democratic frontrunners. Dodd's authentic righteous indignation is certainly fuel for the fire in many a netroot belly.
