Periwinkle Twinkles
My dear, the dewiness of your skin has you fairly glowing.
I've been following in hopes of interviewing you for my
growing audience. You flash your winsome smile showing
him your winning personality and I stifle a mewing cry.
Disentwine his fingers from your flowing blonde locks
before he pulls you to him, bestowing kisses, blowing
sweet nothings in your ear, gnawing, chewing. He talks
of love, hoodwinking you as if he's capable of knowing.
Ah, furrowing your brow. You're allowing me to see
trouble brewing. Corkscrewing your finger in your hair,
foreshadowing boredom, his longwinded tale to me
is overflowing with harrowing adventures and dares
Elbowing a guy out of the way, I catch the twinkle
of your grin. A wind puffs your skirt, billowing silk,
he's pawing at it, it matches your eyes in periwinkle.
Conversation dwindles, he pours tea in your cup, adds milk.
Renewing our connection, I make a pretense of borrowing
sugar; kowtowing, bowing. A mannequin in a shopwindow
would get more notice. You feign not knowing, swallowing
tea, heehawing and guffawing at him. Bellowing is gauche.
You think he's a swinger; and you're the top prizewinner.
He's a swine, a swindler, sinewiness yes, and soon you will
be sorrowing, wallowing in grief, reviewing that ugly sinner.
Don't accuse me of whistleblowing; I'm vowing to be here still.
