So about two years ago my neighbor cut down these two big trees in front of his house; not in the yard itself, but in that little areaa between the sidewalk and the road. There are, and have been, these two big stumps left there. The neighbor guy alway parks there, because there is just a one car garage and then his wife's car is in the driveway. Keep in mind that HE cut the trees down, HE left the stumps there, and HE has been parking there for two years, okay? So on Sunday, just as Steve and I were getting ready to leave my house, Neighbor Guy goes to leave and drives OVER one of the stumps, which caused him to get high-centered on it, completely unable to move. Okay, so we all do stupid things in cars sometimes, and if we are lucky they just cause something minor like that. Steve and Neighbor Guy's Buddy did something involving a jack, a tow-rope, and a lot of swearing, but they got the truck off of the stump and he went on his merry way, waving rather sheepishly. So then I went home a little while ago to let the dog out, and you know, same old Neighbor Guy, same old trcuk, same old stump (that has been there for two years!), and he is high centered again. Part of me wished I was some burly, manly-type woman who could run into the house and grab a bungee cord and a screwdriver (like McGuyver, only with breasts) and somehow manage to un-high-center him, but at the same time, part of me was secretly laughing. I mean, really, this JSUT happened, four days ago, and already he forgot that he was parked right in front of the stump? You gotta laugh.
Another funny on the same lines is this: we were in Montana about ten years ago, stopped in the left hand turn lane behind another car. Stop-light turned freen, she started to move then stopped and BACKED UP right into our car. She got out and, in this crazily distraught manner that in itself was funny, wailed, "Oh my god, my boyfriend is going to kill me! I got a ticket for the SAME THING last night!" I tell you, all I could do was laugh, and the friend who was driving the car was laughing so hard she was literally gasping and wheezing for breath. We all decided to chip in and pay for the slight dent in the car we were in, because we felt so sorry for this girl and din't want her to get another ticket, but we all left thinking it is amazing that some people can really function in everyday life.
