Updates on my female finch

Some of you may remember the saga of my poor birds toe. Lately she has been doing great! I actually ended up cutting off the dead toe for her after several costly and pointless visits to the vet (the vet cut off the wrong toe!)...

Anyway, my brid is doing great! Her scabs are all healed and she able to use the foot. Today when I was checking the nest and cage I realized she laid an egg! I am going to have a baby bird soon!

Does the bird mind your touching the egg? I always heard, probably anothe of those old wives tales, that if you touch a birds egg, the mother won't sit on it. hoping that is not true as you would have to do that job for her, I am smiling and kidding here, nice that you take such good care of your birds and happy you are going to have a baby bird soon.

No they don't mind me touching them.. but the oils from our skin can harm the eggs so I am refraining from touching them with my bare hands... I only touch the nest each day when I check to see if another egg was laid.

By the way we have 4 eggs now!!
