Just after the most recent upgrade here on Gather I found an article of mine that only had one comment so I decided to go through and fix spelling mistakes and give an update. I found that this article also only had one comment so I am going to fix the spelling mistakes and give an update at the end.
When I was pregnant we decided to not find out if we were having a boy or a girl so when my good friends decided to buy me a Red Sox newborn set that included a oneseie, a hat, some socks, and a blanket they got the traditional colors - brilliant red and deep blue. So when my blue-eyed daughter was born she looked quite stunning in her outfit, much more so than she would have in a pink one.
Being a large child she quickly outgrew the onesie and socks and hat and so they were set aside for the next child and the blanket was folded and put on the shelf with the other blankets. For the first year or so of her life she had no prefence for a blanket and instead focused on her stuffed hippo. Then for some reason shortly after her first birthday she became very attached to her blankets in general, unfortunately she was now too large to be completely covered by her baby blankets which was the source of much frustration and crying for her. Finally I talked her into letting me sort of ball the blanket of the day up for her so she could hug it while I covered her with a sheet.
A month or so goes by like this and then for some reason she starts only being happy if the blanket under her chin is her Red Sox blanket, there was even some back sliding where I had to reconvince her that it was just as good to be able to hug the too-small blanket as it was to be completely covered by it.
Now she is 21 months old and still very much attached to the blanket - which has not been washed since the start of the post season and will not be washed until the Red Sox have won it once again!
The update - The Red Sox did in fact win the World Series again and are now the defending champions and Audrey is just as attached to her Blanket as she was then. It now comes with us everywhere we go usually wrapped tightly around Hippo, she also loves to hold it around her shoulders like a cape while she dances to her Sesame Street CD
