So two out of three of the discs on this week's show were a bit less than serious -- that doesn't mean we weren't serious in our discussion of them (for the most part, at least).
We checked out the new one from Ween, "La Cucaracha" as well as the Electric Six's "I Shall Exterminate Everything Around Me That Restricts Me From Being The Master" (boy, that's even harder to type than it is to say), and for balance, the lovely sophomore effort from Band of Horses, "Cease to Begin." Mark Wheat and "Radio Free Current" host Jill Riley were my guests.

Ween. Weeeeeeeeen. They're not too old to be doing what they're doin. Jill, please further define the "culture of Ween" just for grins - loved your story about your introduction to their music. BTW, I dug the "Fiesta" clip, it made me crack a smile.
Electric Six's "Dance Pattern" single might work in a couple mixes I've been playing with...or not. I'll have to give it a full listen, all 16 tracks of it. In other news, I'm strangely attracted to their album cover in direct relation to how much I'm annoyed by the title.
This might sound weird, but I wish the Band of Horses album had been released earlier, in September. It sounds so lovely, and perfect for the season. It kind of feels like a good musical memory, like it has been out already for a long time. I can't believe Mark didn't get any warmth from it.
I'm really diggin' the new Band of Horses. It'll sound nice on the upcoming cold winter days.
Could easily live without Electric 6. Am I missing the boat??
I like the new Band of Horses CD. No, it may not measure up to the first one, but I wouldn't call it a slump by any stretch.
As far as Ween goes: I think they appeal to the stoned, unemployed 22 year old that lurks in all of us. But, I'd rather not re-live those years, thank you very much!
Hey Soundscapem, While you're at it...you could add the Mavericks, the Ponys, Neil Young & Crazy Horse, & The Horseflies to the bill!
"It'll sound nice on the upcoming cold winter days." - Bill Can't disagree with you. I don't think you're missing the boat, it's probably just not your beat.
Thanks for popping in, Shannon.
Tony, I'm at a loss when it comes to your take on Ween. Still, that's some pretty funny stuff, man.
Sounds like a theme, soundscapemn. A strange, oddly funny one, but Bill's on board.
