At 3AM this morning, I thought we had a gas leak in our house. I mean the gas smell was THAT strong in the kitchen but mostly in the living room! So I woke up my adult daughter and she smelled it too. But she went one step further and went outside and sniffed around out there. She said she smelled the gas smell outside and for me to go check too. So I did and I smelled it yes, but the smell was really strong in the house too. So we went ahead and got all three kids out of their beds with their blankets and then went outside where I called my dad to see if he could come over and check it out.
Then we sat outside in the car under blankets. All five of us in our pj's. The kids were excited but I just felt sick. While we were out there, we left the front and back doors to the house open. Dad told me to do that on the phone when he told me he'd be right over.
Then Dad came after what felt like forever but really wasn't! He checked everything out and said the gas smell is coming from outside and it's not inside the house. Well, obviously the gas smell WAS inside the house but the original source wasn't OUR gas leak! Thank God!!
So dad picked up my youngest grandson and carried him into the house, the oldest boys came in and then dad left. Everyone trooped back to bed and fell back asleep with only a few problems with getting back to sleep. The whole thing lasted about 45 minutes.
The gas smell was just so strong in the house!! If it really wasn't in the house, and I guess it wasn't, then something is terribly wrong somewhere because the gas smell was that bad! This morning mom suggested that one of the refineries may have been having some problems. Ok, I didn't know there were any refineries around here! And what are they refining that it makes our part of town, which is downtown, smell like a terrible gas leak?
So now I feel rather foolish about the whole thing but I really thought the house was going to blow up and we would all die! And I don't think it was "just my over-active imagination" that caused me to act the way I did because there really WAS a super strong gas smell!!
So now my Saturday plans [and probably the rest of my life!] are for me to try to live down all the jokes at my expense! :-(
Plus the entire family is tired and needs to catch up on their sleep now too!!
I have to say that I am embarrassed by this whole situation! Have you ever had a situation in your life where it didn't turn out to be exactly what you thought it was?

And I would have called but from way far away from the house. Remember no light switches, no phones ringing, no doorbells ringing, and definitely no cell phones if you smell gas.
Blessings
Embarrassing!!!
