Meekly as I surrender
On cusp of seasonal change
Standing beyond the crossroads
Traveling in single lane
Carefree spirit of wander
Once wrote my name on the wind
And chances from failures
Always had a chance to mend
I saw signs from encounters
From the people I would meet
Some carried broken spirits
And their eyes spoke silent grief
Then there were the hardy souls
With aches and pains never spent
With faltered steps they moved on
As if time had not a grip
Youth has no such memory
They see signs without a when
But as pace of time gains strength
They hear crossroads talk to them
This milestone has passed me by
And now this cloth I must wear
As the person life has sung
Of fallen leaves in the air
So Autumn clings like a spell
But the youth in me has stayed
As I hope for one more sun
To smile through my aches and pains

Blessings and best wishes - S.
You're not waitinng for one more sun. You've got to lead us on mad adventures.
We've got places to go to ... strange localities to visit in our strange ways.
But what a good poem. You inspire us.
She knows all the scores
And every player's name
She has been know to call coaches
And suggest to them a play
Now the NCAA is looking into this
To see if this is the interference some claim
For this year there've been many upset
And the winning teams used Elsie's plays
As I hope for one more sun
adorable ...loved it,...that's I can do...:)
And by the way. I think Elsie told you you were still a baby. And she's going to make a pallet and put you on it in a field of dandelions and goldenrod weeds. She said you were still in your youth and didn't realize it. Good night, William.
But you said you wanted critique, so as one who wants to get published to another... "Saw signs" felt wrong but "spoke silent" was fine, so I've no idea why - probably just me. I think "had not" felt odd the same way, but I really can't say why.
